Decanting is free; the vials are not. Bob Barter and Zahur pour potions into whatever doses you ask for, and sell any vial you are short at its Grand Exchange guide price plus 2 coins. Going up in doses hands back empty vials, which are counted at what they sell for. Potions sell after the 2% Grand Exchange tax. A buy window is the potion's buy limit, or a sixtieth of what it trades in a day when that is less, marked ∼. Rules checked against the OSRS Wiki on 17 October 2026.
How many potions decant evenly
Decanting keeps every dose. Three four-dose potions are twelve doses, which pour into four three-dose potions, and the fourth needs a vial. These are the fewest potions for each change that leave no odd dose over, what they make, and the vials it takes or gives back. Barbarian mixes hold two doses at most.
| Doses | Put in | Get back | Vials |

| 1 to 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 back |
| 1 to 3 | 3 | 1 | 2 back |
| 1 to 4 | 4 | 1 | 3 back |
| 2 to 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 needed |
| 2 to 3 | 3 | 2 | 1 back |
| 2 to 4 | 2 | 1 | 1 back |
| 3 to 1 | 1 | 3 | 2 needed |
| 3 to 2 | 2 | 3 | 1 needed |
| 3 to 4 | 4 | 3 | 1 back |
| 4 to 1 | 1 | 4 | 3 needed |
| 4 to 2 | 1 | 2 | 1 needed |
| 4 to 3 | 3 | 4 | 1 needed |
| Mix 1 to 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 back |
| Mix 2 to 1 | 1 | 2 | 1 needed |
Every dose of a potion is its own item on the Grand Exchange, with its own price and its own buy limit of four hours. A potion whose low doses sell for more a dose than its four-dose form pays to split, and the other way round pays to combine. Guthix rest is poured into cups. Olive oil, sacred oil and both moth mixes decant too.
