The coffer

The coffer over this period

What you get is decided when you collect. The workers bank points, not items, so you can change the split with Advisor Ghrim just before collecting and the new split applies to the whole period. Idle workers cost the same, because the coffer pays out whatever they do. Herbs, seeds, gems and the contents of nests are random, so their amounts are averages, and the farming seed mix is an estimate (shown with a ~). Approval falls faster the lower it gets, and its day-by-day fall here is close, not exact. One collection holds at most 262,143 points (about 230 days at the full rate), 1,072 bird nests, 2 ranarr seeds and 4 of each tree seed, and the workers stop after 30 days without a visit to the islands. Everything is priced at what it sells for on the Grand Exchange after tax. Figures checked against the OSRS Wiki on 18 September 2026.

How Managing Miscellania pays out

Every day at midnight UTC the coffer pays your workers a tenth of what it holds, up to 50,000 coins, or 75,000 once Royal Trouble is done. That payment, scaled by your approval, becomes resource points, and the points turn into items only when you collect.

Paid a day = a tenth of the coffer, at most 75,000
Points a day = paid × 100 ÷ 8,333, rounded down, × approval
Items = workers × the resource's rate × points ÷ 2,048, rounded down

At 100% approval and the full 75,000 that is 1,143 points a day, which ten workers turn into 892 maple logs and 8 bird nests, or 546 coal, or 61 herbs, or 1,250 flax. Before Royal Trouble the same ten workers earn 762 points, so 595 maple logs and 5 nests.

How much to keep in the coffer

The payment only reaches its ceiling while the coffer holds ten times that ceiling: 750,000 coins after Royal Trouble, 500,000 before. Below it the workers are paid less and bring back less, in step. A full coffer of 7,500,000 pays the full rate for 91 days, and the coins are not lost along the way: what the workers are paid comes back as loot, which is the profit the calculator shows.

Is topping up approval every day worth it

After Royal Trouble approval slips by about 1% a day from 100%, and the slide speeds up the lower it gets. A few days' neglect costs little; a month costs a lot. The approval table puts a number on it for your own period, so you can weigh a trip to rake weeds against the coins it saves.

Advisor Ghrim in the castle tells you where approval stands. Raking the weeds in the herb and flax plots south of the gates is the quickest way back to 100%: every weed counts, and it needs only 10 Farming. Mining coal on the north shore counts every time too, while maple logs and fish count about half the time. After Royal Trouble, teak and mahogany logs on Etceteria count every time.

What Royal Trouble changes

Five more workers, 15 in place of 10, with still no more than 10 on one resource. A coffer that holds 7,500,000 and pays up to 75,000 a day, which is half as much again from every worker. Two new jobs on Etceteria, hardwood and farming. And approval that falls much more slowly.
