100 offerings is one roll of the reward table and one research point. Seeds, nests and clue nests also drop and are not counted.

Logs already in the bank
How far that many logs go from your current level, with the setup on the left.
Every totem is assumed complete and correctly carved. A wrong spirit takes a quarter off the decorating experience, and an ent trail adds 15% to one totem's building and carving and doubles its offerings; neither is counted. Loop times are the wiki's for your setup, and a figure with a ~ is an estimate: a loop of bought decorations, a loop holding a different number of totems, or a loop that waits because the totems still stand. Ents call about every 48 seconds and a totem stands for 2 to 7 of their visits, so a loop can never come round faster than that. Nothing is fletched while waiting. Loot is what 100 offerings hold on average. Figures checked against the OSRS Wiki on 23 September 2026.
Vale Totems experience and offerings by wood
Vale Totems is a Fletching minigame in the Auburn Valley, open after the Vale Totems miniquest at level 20. A totem is one log built at a site, three spirits carved into it and four decorations added, each a Fletching product of the same wood. Building and each carving pay the same experience, and every decoration pays the same again whatever it is: a shield is worth exactly what an unstrung shortbow is. A decoration fletched on the way pays its own experience on top.
| Wood | Level | Build or carve | A decoration | A full totem | Offerings | Stands for |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Oak | 20 | 12.5 | 51.2 | 254.8 | 20 | 2 visits |
| Willow | 35 | 31.7 | 126.9 | 634.4 | 30 | 3 visits |
| Maple | 50 | 50.8 | 201 | 1,007.2 | 40 | 4 visits |
| Yew | 65 | 82.6 | 326.2 | 1,635.2 | 65 | 5 visits |
| Magic | 80 | 156.1 | 619.8 | 3,103.6 | 90 | 6 visits |
| Redwood | 90 | 221.3 | 725.5 | 3,787.2 | 105 | 7 visits |
Ents move between the eight sites about every 48 seconds and take one durability from a totem each visit, so an oak totem stands for two visits and a redwood one for seven. A site cannot be rebuilt until its totem has gone, which is why yew and better totems can leave you waiting on a quick loop.
A loop of the valley
With a log basket, all eight totems fit in one loop of 40 logs: about 4 minutes 30 seconds fletching unstrung bows on the way with a knife, 4 minutes 10 with a fletching knife, and 5 minutes 20 or 5 minutes when the bows are strung as well. Without a basket the inventory holds five totems' logs, in 3 minutes or 2 minutes 40, and 3 minutes 20 or 3 minutes strung. Bought decorations follow the same eight sites with a stop at the Nemus Retreat bank halfway. Shields take two logs each, so a loop of them holds fewer totems.
Offerings, research points and the shop
Each ent visit leaves offerings that scale with the wood and the decorations: 10 a visit for a full oak totem, 13 for yew and 15 for magic and redwood. Rummaging 100 offerings gives one research point and one roll of the reward table, with a 1 in 100 chance of a bow string spool, a fletching knife or a Greenman mask first. Ranulph's Vale Research Exchange sells the spool for 250 points, the knife for 350, the mask for 500 and an ent branch for 20. The fletching knife makes every bow after the first a 2-tick cut instead of 3, and the spool strings a whole inventory of bows from one slot.
Vale Totems questions
Which decoration is best? With bought decorations it makes no difference to experience, so the cheapest of the wood is best. Fletching on the way, a shield pays the most a totem but takes two logs, and a strung bow pays twice but slows the loop. The first table above runs every one on your own goal.
Is it worth doing at oak? An oak totem is 254.8 experience for five logs where fletching those logs into shortbows pays 82.5, so yes from level 20, and willow at 35 is nearly three times better again.
What else trains Fletching? The Fletching calculator has every bow, dart, arrow and bolt beside this one.
