Permits from a game's points
One permit for the first 2,000 points and one for every 700 after, with what is left over a chance of one more.
Every figure is an average. Experience an hour is what players report for each harpoon and level, read on a straight line between the levels given. A figure with a ~ is an estimate: a solo method below level 99, where only the level 99 figure is known, a permits an hour range taken at its middle, and permits on a mass world with no cooking. Loot is priced at what it sells for right now, after the 2% tax. Spirit flakes, the fish barrel, the tackle box, the big harpoonfish and the pet cannot be sold. Figures checked against the OSRS Wiki on 20 September 2026.
Tempoross experience an hour
Tempoross needs 35 Fishing. Every harpoonfish caught, loaded or fired pays Fishing experience that rises with your level, and nothing extra is paid for the kill. Cooking the fish before loading them earns far more points and a little less experience.

How points become permits
| Action | Points |
|---|---|
| Catching a harpoonfish | 5 |
| Cooking a harpoonfish | 10 |
| Loading a raw or crystallised harpoonfish | 20 |
| Loading a cooked harpoonfish | 65 |
| Repairing a totem or mast | 40 |
| Dousing a fire | 40 |
| Surviving a wave | 10 |
| Harpooning the spirit pool | 55 |
A cooked harpoonfish is worth 80 points from the water to the cannon, and a raw one 25. One permit comes with the first 2,000 points of a game and one more with every 700 after. Points left over are a chance of one more permit, so 4,500 points are four permits and four chances in seven of a fifth.
The reward pool
A permit is one search. Most searches bring a stack of raw fish, and which fish depends on your Fishing level when you search, in bands that change at 40, 46, 50, 76, 79 and 81. The table above prices a permit in each band today. One search in 4 is spirit flakes and one in 20 a casket. The rare rewards are rolled on top.
| Reward | One permit |
|---|---|
| Soaked pages | 149 in 8,000 |
| Fish barrel | 1 in 400 |
| Tackle box | 1 in 400 |
| Big harpoonfish | 1 in 1,600 |
| Tome of water | 1 in 1,600 |
| Tiny tempor | 1 in 8,000 |
| Dragon harpoon | 1 in 8,000 |
A fish barrel, a tackle box or a big harpoonfish you already own comes as 25 soaked pages. Each piece of the spirit angler's outfit costs 1,200 spirit flakes and the angler's piece it replaces. A permit averages 12 flakes, so the set is about 400 permits. It adds 2.5% Fishing experience and works as the rope.
Tempoross questions
Solo or a mass world? A mass world needs no plan. Solo without cooking is the fastest experience, and solo with cooking and firefighting earns the most permits at about half the experience.
